Blizzard

Snow.

The past 5 months have been long. They've been cold. They've brought myself and the children of NYC 2 days off of school...no complaints here.

The greatest snowfall of the season turned into a blizzard that lasted for almost 24 hours and brought the city roughly 18 inches of white. Below are pictures that Scott took in Central Park during that day.

Thanksgiving

My sweet friend Mehren invited a few of us to her parent's home in upstate NY for Thanksgiving. It's crazy how beautiful the landscape is just an hour outside of this chaotic city.

I do

We have been slow with this blog lately....forgive us.

I had the privilege of being the Matron of Honor at my best friend Angela Ray's wedding to Andy Goodwin a few weeks ago. The wedding was down in Florida, so we got to see family too. Here are a few pictures from their big day; we'll take better family pictures to post while we are down again for Christmas. My Iphone camera pictures just don't cut it.

Brooklyn

I finally said yes to an invitation that has been extended for over a year now. This yes led me to my friend Alexis's apartment in Fort Greene, Brooklyn. I was skeptical at first, because Scott and I have looked at our fair share of apartment spaces in this "other" borough over our three years here, and all of those neighborhoods have been...well...less than awesome. However, I have been converted. I am in love with Fort Greene. It's an area that is surrounded by little restaurants, parks, coffee shops, and my all time favorite-brownstones.

Plus, as you can see below, the living space is pretty amazing for the money out here.....this living room is double the space of our entire current apartment in Manhattan. Brooklyn has not been checked off of The DeVores "places to live" list after all....

Summer

It's been a pretty crazy past couple of months. After our last post, I (Amy) came down with both the Swine Flu and Strep A at the same time. After a bunch of tests and a week spent in bed, all was well again. School ended for me, and I immediately jumped into taking classes at the Upright Citizens Brigade. http://www.ucbtheatre.com/ My first show was just a few weeks ago, and my second is coming up in just two weeks from now. Scott is now playing in two different bands and has a show almost every other week planned until the end of this year. Besides the theater and the music, not much else has changed here. My usual routine for the days that I am not at the UCB is to sleep in until 1-2pm, then go to Starbucks with Scott and have my "morning" coffee. It's going to be a rude awakening in just two weeks from now, when my alarm clock rings once again at 6am and work begins anew.
