Who's getting an iPhone?

Not me. I'll wait for the revised 2.0 version. The one where they fix the screen and the battery and the memory. Oh yeah and when it doesn't cost $600!!

There are people who have been waiting in line since Monday outside the 5th Ave. Apple store here in NY. It's on the news, in commercials, online, and yes, here in my blog.

2nd guy in line(skinny clean cut nerdy guy) - "I am waiting here in line to get one of the first iPhones so that we[some charity] can auction it off and raise money for our charity."

1st guy in line(fat bump on a log w/ "little spinning disks for pupils" has been there since Monday) - "I just can't wait to get my new toy!"

I hope it doesn't let you down "1st guy".

Nothing says "I've never kissed a girl" like camping outside the Apple store for a week.

Power

It's a funny feeling you get when the power goes out like it did here today. You're not sure if it's gonna be a short little event or if it's gonna last a while. You start to think about the food you have that will last, how long your cell phone charge is good for, how hot it is outside. Hearing the sirens outside from police makes you wonder if this is citywide and if something has happened. Where are all my flashlights? Do I have any candles? Maybe I won't have to go to work tomorrow. We've all been there before. Somehow it's different when your in a place as dense as NY. Anyway, it turns out that it was nothing major and power was restored in about an hour. So, it's back to running the AC at 65 and standing in front of the fridge pointlessly with the door open.

Careful, the beverage you're about to enjoy is extremely hot.

Well, thanks to strange sleep habits and schedules I have started drinking coffee. I was never really into it before but now I am dicovering a whole world of possibilities. Starbucks is very convenient here in the city. There are about 300,000 of them throughout. Did you know you can buy their coffee to make at home? Ah yes. Frequently there is the aroma of fresh brewed Italian Roast Extra Bold Starbucks coffee in the apartment. I even have my special oversized 20oz. mug to drink from. I being the wannabe chef guy(whatever) that I am made myself some sugar syrup to sweeten it with, though most of the time I like it plain black. If anyone has any reccomendations for good coffee brands, flavors, etc., I want to hear them. Leave a comment.

Movie shoot

I am currently working at the summer camp held by my school. It's
nothing too exciting, except that I love the people I am working with
and the pay is good for the work that we do, which is close to none.

Movie trailers have been parked outside of our front door this entire week, so I did my research and discovered that it is for a movie which is going to be called Baby Mama, staring Tina Fey and Amy Poehler. This makes me happy because I loved these two on SNL (no comment on the current cast, let's just say that they need me.)

Today I had a 2 hour break, so I went out into the streets and began to wander around. I found a great spot that was so close, I was a bit scared that they would ask me to leave, but no one did so I remained still with an "I'm supposed to be here" look on my face. I was now standing behind a cameraman watching them film, when out of a building behind me walks Tina. She stands right next to me, and me, usually being very quick with my words, can only muster up, "So, you been filming here long?" She was very nice and we spoke for a short time, then she had to go back to filming.

It's random things like this which make me love this city.

Schelb

If you know this guy you might think this is funny.

..and for good measure..

flickr

I have started to put some pictures up on Flickr. So far it's just a random sampling of things ranging from my baby nephew Tyler, to a fire scene, to some garlic in my kitchen. I won't be putting everything up there, just the ones that are noteworthy or mean something to me or that I thought were funny. Feel free to comment on them or comment here.

Creepshow 2: Life Lessons

So it's the middle of the night and I just finished watching the movie Creepshow 2 on IFC channel. It's a great little movie containing various scenarios where people die in various ways. Each story has a great little life lesson that basically tells you that if you do any of these things you are gonna get yours very soon. If you:

1. Burglarise and kill a general store owner and his wife so you can go to Hollywood and "get chicks". A big wooden indian will come after you. Slowly, but efficiently.
2. Smoke weed and skip school to drive out to a swimming hole. A big sticky oily goo will swallow you up and digest you.
3. Sleep with a gigolo and lie to your husband about it, then hit and kill a hitchhiker on the way home and leave the scene. The hitchhiker will get in your head and cause you to go crazy and crash your car then leave it running in the garage while you pass out.
4. Bully a science nerd. You will be eaten by a gigantic Venus fly trap. Then it will burp.

Remember never to do these things. You will die in a humorous way.

Anyway, I just thought that I would share what I learned tonight.

Until next time,
Scott

Cruise Pictures

We took a dinner cruise around Manhattan as part of our one year anniversary. We ate dinner and watched the city go by aboard the 'Duchess'. Very romantic evening aside from all the Asian businessmen who were passed out at their tables from drinking too much.

A few shots of NY Harbor from the yacht.

All in all the dinner cruise was good. The food was decent and the views from the boat were excellent. Next time we'll see it by air.

New Blog

Well, it's about time we came up to speed and got efficient with this blogging thing. Up till now it has just been a page with a big long list of posts and pictures. No programming or anything. It has served it's purpose but now it would be too much work to make a manageable blog that is readable, scrollable, searchable, etc, etc... Also, it's just a blog. There's no need to be fancy or any thing like that. There are other ways to showcase what needs to be showcased. I am still working on getting the www.devoresnewyork.com to link to here. That should not take too long. {EDIT}It works now.{/edit}

So here we are. Welcome to our new blog!
