Oh the possibilities.
I just got my Wacom tablet today. I have wanted/needed one of these forever. If you don't know, it is for editing, retouching, drawing, signing, freehand art, etc. It basically does what a mouse would do except with hand expression because you write, color, paint with it as if you are holding a brush or pen. The possibilities are endless. I will be using it for photo retouching and all that. Nice. This is an example sketch I did today.

It's time to FLY
When my brother David and I were little, we would sit and watch this show together on Nickelodeon called Dumbo's Circus. The closing song had these stuffed animal like characters getting into a flying circus wagon while the song went, "it's time to fly" as they flew away. David, being only 2, would sing the lyrics really loudly, but he would always sing "it's time to bye" and it made me, a really smart 6 year old, VERY upset. Regardless though, it is time for Scott and I to fly....back to Tampa. We are heading down for a wedding, then a mini vacation for just us two at the beach, time with family, and of course, to see all of our friends.
Our tickets were just booked yesterday, hence the blog and excitement. To everyone in FL, we will see you soon!

"Thriller"
Do you ever get the urge to listen to Michael Jackson's Thriller? Why not throw in a thousand phillippino prisoners? AMAZING is what you get.

Saturday in the park
We spent our Saturday strolling around Central Park with our friend Lauren from PA. We visited The Conservatory Garden "Central Park's six acre formal garden" first. It is very peaceful in there. Also, we got to see some real grass for the first time in a while. There were two wedding photo shoots going on. Remind me never to sign up for one of those. Next, we went to The Reservoir. The sky was big and we enjoyed the view while we walked around the rim on our way to Belvedere Castle. We hung out there for a while before we finished up our walk heading home. Sometimes it's nice to just walk with no destination.
Here are a bunch of pictures in no particular order.

Where do we live?
New York City baby! Con Ed says that they inspected the pipe earlier in the day because of "vapor conditions" and found nothing wrong. Way to stay on the ball Con Edison. This pipe was installed in 1924. I'll say it again. 1-9-2-4. Makes you wonder what else is lurking just a few feat beneath us, waiting to fail.

I'm gonna say half a million.
That's how many people were in central park last night for the NY Philharmonic. It's a tradition every summer for them to play several concerts in the park. If the number wasn't 500,000 then it's close to it. Everywhere you looked there were people sitting shoulder to shoulder covering the entire great lawn. Picnic blankets and bare feet was the norm for the night. Around us a group had some heat in a can and were toasting marshmallows. Directly behind me was a couple who decided to bring the entire contents of their refrigerator. Seriously, 5 different plates of cheese, a couple bottles of wine, crackers, fruit, cookies etc, etc. Someone kicked their glasses over more than once. At the end of the show there were some fireworks at the opposite end. Those were nice and everyone seemed to enjoy them. The weather was perfect with a cool breeze blowing through. I'd do it again..

My Day Off
Since Scott has been the main blogger in this family, I decided to pull my weight and bring the camera along with me today to take a few shots.
Today was one of the rare times that I had off from my summer job, which meant that I had all morning and afternoon free. I slept in until 12 and then met two of my friends for Tea and lunch at Alice's Tea Cup.
After Tea, my friend Cole had to leave for an apointment, so Nancy and I walked to this cute bookstore that I love. Turns out I love it for a reason-Nancy told me that it was the one from "You've Got Mail." I knew it looked familiar!
(Mom-this picture is for you because I know that you would love this place too)
After visiting the bookstore, we headed to the Cooper Hewitt Museum where Nancy is a member. We went out to the back lawn and while Nancy read on a bench, I walked around this outside exhibit called "Design for the other 90%." The sign at the entrance reads: “The majority of the world’s designers focus all their efforts on developing products and services exclusively for the richest 10% of the world’s customers. Nothing less than a revolution in design is needed to reach the other 90%.” It was pretty cool. They stressed a ton of great ideas for cost effective ways to increase access to food and water and provided ideas for healthcare and education.
Not a bad day at all.

Artistic Genius
If you had to guess the artist out of the two of us, who would it be? If you guessed Amy you are right. It is raining pretty hard here today and we are stuck inside and bored. I am messing around on the computer as Amy lays(?lies, lyeth, lieth, doth lay?) next to me on the bed doodling on a post-it pad. She has illustrated our life together in this short series.

Fireworks....or not.
It rained, we were on the opposite side of the city from the fireworks, it rained, and it rained.
We went to Cole and Raymond's Apartment on the west side at 42ND st. and watched the fireworks from the roof along with everyone else who lived in the 44 floor building. It was raining and windy and crowded but it was a fun time hanging out with our friends regardless. There were drunk gay guys next to us singing the national anthem and booing George Bush(??). That's patriotism right? Here come the pictures...

Salad Eating Dog
Have you ever seen a dog eat a salad? After tonight I can honestly say I have.
Oh yeah we went to see a movie in Bryant Park tonight. Paper Moon was playing. This night was like our first night out when we moved here last August. It was warm, the stars were out and we ate Chipotle.
Here's a shot from the walk home so you can feel like your there.
